This paper presents a systematic literature review on Product-Service Systems (PSS), focusing on its development processes. Product Service Systems (PSS) are a sustainable industrial solution, delivering an integration of products and services instead of products only – a model still not broadly recognized. A literature search encountered 87 non-duplicated papers, employed at identifying existing approaches on PSS development, according to its lifecycle stages. The main approaches per stage were presented, as well as those with a focus on sustainability. Since manufacturing companies need support on delivering PSSs solutions to customers, this research takes a step forward into a practical assistance approach.

This paper argues the emerging needs of incorporating regional eco-material archive in design education from the
perspective of the constructivist point of view and active learning approaches. It is a critical reflection on the pedagogical
development on sustainable product design education in School of Design, The Hong Kong Polytechnic
University since the 90’s. Action research method is carried out into the longitudinal reflective study in which the
continuous refinement of the educational approaches will be reviewed with the illustration of different types of cases
and initiatives of the teaching activities. The summary includes the recommendations of a framework to support
active learning with physical eco-materials archive and cases to enable the design exploration about the cycle of local
resources, local production, local consumption, and local recycling.

A scientific literature review was carried out in relation to the topics of mechanical design, sustainability, product
design, sustainable design, making a list of tools to design with sustainable approach; the information was analysed

under sustainable approach: LCA case. | 2 indicating: considerations, recommendations, and tools to design,
methodologies and conclusions. The main topic that has been investigated is Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), so we have
focused the work on it. The purpose of this work is that people who are involved in the field of design have an approach
to sustainable approaches and can apply the tools making use of the recommendations to obtain better results.
